The Darkest Winter

The darkest winter, ever
never felt so damned alone,
these growing pains are crippling
hope it's worth it when I'm grown;

this winter brought more gravity
at least, that's how I feel,
this burden of first-hand knowledge
leaves an icy chill, that's real!

Folks say that they understand
it's a lesson we must all learn,
fate merely granted ambiance
when it finally was my turn.

So, in the dead of winter
I'm told something else has died,
it reminds me of the summer
I learned the jealousy lesson and "fried"!

So, at the risk of sounding, "bitter"
what's fate got against me?
it's difficult to focus,
and learn this lesson, when it's "wintery";

But, learning this sure took it's toll
school has never been a "comfort zone",
now, I could use some damn, "body heat"...
..and here I sit. The very definition of, "all alone"!

In the long run, it's just as well
I must've failed some past test,
then, co-habitat-ed with a lady
who was obstreperous, at her very best!

We better be careful what we long for
nothing's quite as it really appears,
this fact came into fruition
from the deafening silence in my ears!

And, if I'd venture even half a guess,
I'm sure that this lady'd lean
towards exiting the scenario
before her true colors, by all, were seen.

For now, I'm simply grateful
that things didn't turn out worse;
I could've ended up in a body bag
and taking a final ride, in the back of a hearse!

I really enjoyed this and hope it's not too much autobiography. A few little things I think you could mull over:
L-9 delete then
L-10 switch all and must
L-16 delete comma
L-18 abbreviate what has to what's
L-23 try : when I could use some body heat
L-26 change previous to some past
L- tell me to fly a kite lol...................stan
