The Colours of Kahlo

"The most important thing is to hold on, hold out, for your creative life, for your solitude, for your time to be and do, for your very life."  ~ Clarissa Pinkola Estés

If I could have, I'd have tied strings in the colours of parrot wings to the melancholy moon
and let it carry me like a kite into the place where only shadows thrive.
I would endear myself as if a holy irrelevance.  In equidistant memory,
I would be a lover
and not a moment longer. I'd strike a match of cliché, I'd be an imposter
in my own storybook,
I'd render myself useless.  I'd become the hero and feed you fire.
Lingering on clouds,
I'd feed you pears and bridal beds.
I'd wear my stripes
inside out, prisoner of what comes my way.  I would end my life slowly--
day by day by day and you could go on and on,
my mediocrity.  My passion.  My love.

Oh! Anna
lovely words and images
and I can feel a sentiment, just don't know what it is,
could you possibly name it
I looked between the lines, studied the punctuation for clues, and I'm still not sure.
It's right in front of my nose , and it's a lovely scent, but ...

it has been a while since we have been here at the same time
so, HI,

I still get baffled by a lot of poems, so I hope you don't take it pesonally or think I'm just a dope...( I'm a little dopey, but not JUST a dope)

see you around campus,

brittle light

I really liked reading it. Somehow it never fell into place for me.
I think I overthink while I'm reading...the tyranical rational side of my noggin is always on the look-out for something more than meets the eye...suspicious of any point given or gotten

I have always considered you an excellent poet, doing magic with words

PS one of those poems I wish I'd written.

Thank you.

Imo &experience all we ever do is make love with our muse. Somewhere, sometime along the way, we find our voice. May it serve us all well.

I have learned to reach higher and not be afraid to say it, write it, regardless of the consequences. Why? Because that's all I really am. Unique, arrogant, infuriating and entertaining, though not necessarily in the same poem.

Cheers!

If we all wore stripes like you do, hmmm.

thank you for the peek inside

flipping the pages is the worthwhile chore

I'd never thought about what it might be like to be a muse. Both praised when ink flows and cursed when the quill becomes dry.............stan

for a genius. It took a country gentleman like Stan, to open my eyes to this one. Thanks Stan and thank you Anna, for this dance. ~ Gee.

Cheers, Geezer.

I'm reminded of one of my fav. Rumi poems:

“Dance, when you're broken open. Dance, if you've torn the bandage off. Dance in the middle of the fighting. Dance in your blood. Dance when you're perfectly free.”

I like your poem very much. The first line is great, just gets you in the mood of the poem. I like the painter whose work is becoming more and more "around"...I love the inconsistencies of the soul as you present them here. The words and pace work. Moist words like "lingering on clouds"

I would change the last to lines to
day by day by day and you could go on and on;
My mediocrity. My passion. My love.

This way the 3 aspects have equal weight.

Thanks for your soul sharing.

K

Thank you for reading, Eumolpus. Love your cummings quote signature!

As a matter of fact, I was going back and forth on that last line, exactly as you suggested. Then I decided to use my mediocrity as the balance between my passion and my love.

Grin.
