Cold

I remember the way that you touched me
the way that you hand felt in mine,
your lips were so soft
.
In my mind’s eye I capture
the way that you looked at me,.
as if you loved me too much.

Vowed our love was eternal
with every word you uttered,
and deed completed.

But now you’re cold
icy, as frigid air,
the chill winds blow.

I live and breathe despair
but you won’t return.
I am unloved

Lou, though I love poetry born from a lover's rejection and know intimately its pain, I will this time speak as I would to my daughter....

Know that life has a series of lovers for you. And the one that left only left you because there are many lovers yet to be known. He made room for them to enter your life. And each lover brings you the same gift with their leaving.
