Dragon's breath is gently steaming
as he lightly snores
A rider's hat and leathers
hang on pegs beside the door
The sun is slowly coming up
pink o'er blue rocky hills
Shadows are receding now
along with night-time chills
Windows open on the morning
Good smells upon the air
Hot breakfast-tea is drunk
Pilots braid their hair
Dragons polished in the sun
Scales washed and scoured bright
Saddles cinched and tightened
for first formation's flight
A hundred wings and fifty tails
against the morning sky
Graceful black calligraphy
meets the watcher's eye
Awesome in their beauty
defenders of their land
Dragon's teeth and talons
beneath the Pilot's hand

dear Geezer,
I can visualize you and the boys on dragon-back, flaming "thread" from the sky. proud and brave and one with your mighty steed! have you read any of the books from the Dragon Riders Of Pern, by Anne Mc Caffrey (I may have misspelled her name) this is what I thought of on reading your poem! this is masterfully executed poem. I can offer no changes. the only thing is: I WANT MORE, greedy creature that I am!

Yes...
I have read ALL of the Dragons of Pern seriesl and most all of the rest of her books, written by herself and with co-writers! She is still one of my favorite Sci-fi/Fantasy writers. There may be more, I just have to see what the muse brings me! She has been very eclectic as of late, and I don't know what she is up to! She has been knocking on the door of my creativity and demanding that I go strange places with my work. Thank you for your gracious comments. ~ Geez.
.
Full of fantasy!
Magical and supernatural elements that does not exist in the real world. The plot includes: Talking animals, imagined creatures, and the world unknown.
It's just a speculative fiction.
Beautifully written. Meter and rhythm all was nicely created.
Great crafter Geezer!
