What a great story that you tell here. This made me think of being at parties where I didn't belong and how I kept myself amused by thinking of past mistakes and ways I'd fix them. There's good depth in your descriptions and we feel the pain and the regret. Nicely done.

thanks for your commentary and your personal anecdote. In this case I was trying to make a generalized analogy between Chess and the current capitalism prevalent in Indian society where inflow of money has created different hierarchies of wealthy individuals and the fact that a major portion of the poorer population cannot aspire to join the ranks of the new aristocrats no matter how hard or how long they toil.
Although this could also apply to certain developed countries where after the recent spate of horrific events by extremists, large numbers of peaceful immigrants, refugees and minorities have been under greater scrutiny and risk being attacked by rogue politicians / criminal organizations or even security agencies at the slightest perceived suspicion. Many times the criminal perpetrators are safe from prosecution and government agencies are less accountable to legal actions due to watering down of basic rights for the second class victims.
I am a strong believer that the bad Karma of these former rogue criminal politicians and special interest organizations will ensure their downfall and punishment in addition to the legal investigations that have been launched.
