BEYOND HORIZONS
The pleasantness of it all:
a lifetime of charmed moments,
slipping into the years softly,
sweet recollections free of longing.
happy is the man who owns the day,
holds to a step steady and firm;
never to fear the fires
that beyond horizons burn.

hi Joe
Been away - glad to see you're still writing
I like this very much
it shows both sides of the coin... one can read that the narrator is either happy or sad dependent on the 'take'
Double entendre intended ??
Enjoyed
A clever write

Like Judy, I can see two
Like Judy, I can see two sides. You lull the reader into a cosy, false sense of security and then wham, the despair at the end.
I've been reading quite a few of your poems Joe (love them all) and I wouldn't expect any less from a master like your self :-)

a quote
"never to fear the fires that beyond horizons burn"
to quote Jesus, "sufficient for today are the cares of today"
so why worry about tomorrow?

My God
never asks more of people than their best. He offers forgiveness for even the most heinous of crimes where there is genuine repentance but does not set aside the consequences of breaking laws.
