Awkward Thoughts

Awkward Thoughts…

They shovel words down our rarely used throats,
trying to make us swallow or gag so very hard.
Standing on squared circles like silly old goats,
with Hamster chin pouched necks, bellies of lard.

Angry though we get we’re always in the wrong,
excuses are made for our uneducated upbringing.
We can never use truth to voice our helpless song,
unfortunate people trying to sing, no just mudslinging.

What heir they breath this haughty social crowd,
think themselves the better as they run to trample horse.
When asked if they miscarry justice when allowed,
there can only be one arrogant answer given, of course.

But it’s not them to blame we’re such a cowardly lot,
we won’t stand up for each other, it’ll lose us money.
It’s alright for the foreign protesters who only get shot,
their leaders didn’t promise them, a land of milk and honey.

It may be miscued our justice but it’s still the law,
that it can be bought no one denies with conviction.
When pointed out that it’s really just a social flaw,
surely they say this is just natural predestination.

About This Poem

Last Few Words: Just thinking of the people in Syria and our own lives of comfort, though we're treated with the same disdain by the hierarchy.

You give food for thought on this controversial subject. Frustrating and deep.

It may be miscued our justice but it’s still the law,
that it can be bought no one denies with conviction.
When pointed out that it’s really just a social flaw,
surely they say this is just natural predestination.

Now rhat's a political rant.
I love the impact of the last stanza.
You have capture a nations thoughts, but afraid to take action because the fear of lost.
Then how can they say; "We are free" when someone else has been given the control.

A really good piece of writting!

My thoughts exactly Eddie, we're not free they only let us think we are. Thanks for reading and commenting. Regards Roscoe..

Whenever a republic or democracy develops a ruling clas it's time for a change. As to Syria, I just can't work myself up too much over people who would prefer to see me dead and my country destroyed............stan PS really liked the raw emotive element of this poem

Stan, the ruling clan never left, even in times of Rome they satisfied the mob with Gladiators, controlled them with fear and money. The coloseums bigger ie the world stage. But the money and fear things the same, all our foreign secretaries do a roaring trade in ratcheting up fear. And our chancellor does his bit with the money, as far as Syria or any Arab country it's the religous leaders who stoke the fire of hatred. Just like our leaders do when they want us to go to war for oil. Regards Roscoe..
