Awakened

Touch my hand and I would feel.
I really wished I was there too.
They told me it was better this way.
But still, I would have liked to have seen for myself.
Love holds no boundaries,
and I trust my heart not to lie.
God granted me emotion,
if only to be abused
by my own jealous pride.
This makes me cry sometimes.
I’m only confused.
Feeling somehow misused;
by those I once cared for.
Regretfully, words do take their toll.
I take no pleasure in our misfortune,
I only wonder how we’ve been this way for so long.
Loneliness is no remedy,
for happiness is a key;
possibly to tranquility.
And, hopefully, a better way for me.
Now I’m turning to the king.
You know, the one who died for everyone.
Not only me.
Sinking into what I knew,
trying just to make it through.
And yet still, I’m washed away.
Life is just an empty grand parade.
I find that what I feel isn’t how I seem,
even when I need to let someone see me.
The obvious conclusion,
is only mystery.
For the questions I’ve been asking,
only reflect back on me.
Soulless orbs staring blankly at the sun
miss the point I’ve tried to make.
I need to know if I will awake

Geezer

goes on. The search for meaning, for the "truth". Do we all sleep? Will we all awaken one day? I think that one does not ever find the "truth". It's just not a place or a destination. You have written well, and maybe you will find the 'truth' you have written of. Nothing I would change, ~ Geezer.

Excellent job with your pace and language. Good theme and stays on topic. Everything moves toward the ending.

Really nice job,

Hello, Jordyn,
The entire poem offers much to think over, but I was very touched by, "Life is just an empty grand parade." A strong line with such clear imagery! I agree, wonderful language and well written.
Thank you!
