IN ARIZONA

Seren thought I should stream this.........................

Again the cordite fills the air
stinging eyes
bringing shocked cries
causing flashbacks
of fortune's roll call
...Lincoln
...Kennedy
...King
...Wallace
...Sadat
...Reagan
...Lennon

Echos of gunfire
filling a generation
with the feeling of
might have beens

At what point will madmen with guns
stop steering history
stop stealing our future
stop depriving us of our best
...........when we need them the worst

or

Is it the nature of our imperfection
to by violence change the world's direction
in seeming random flashes
turning high hopes to ashes
......to declare majority
...........at the muzzle of a gun

Now to breath another sigh
while turning puzzled eyes to the sky
while screaming the eternal question
WHY ?

in response to attempted assassination of congresswoman and murder of bystanders in Tuscon

It is my belief that had a law biding gun bearer been present there would have been fewer killed as killer would have himself been laid low before he had the chance to fire so many rounds. I have become aware that most of these madmen strike at locations where other armed citizens are unlikely to be present. Of course a gun is hardly needed in some parts of the world they get by with machetes just fine, or even swords and stones. I now step down from soapbox lol.I appreciate your remark and accompanying poem..............stan
