Agelessness

I'm actually not too sure
whether she was an, "old soul",
or I was an immature one.

The complete, bottom line was,
that we were both, "ageless"
while we were, together.

I was exactly twenty years, her senior,
but, that didn't really seem to matter.
We were merely, "happy" we were together.

There was this one thing, though
and, I didn't really ever factor it in;
but, whether or not...we always got along didn't matter;

what did was, not how many similarities we shared
but, how many differences were keeping us apart!

We didn't share twenty years between us,
we had twenty years fighting against us;
Even though, we shared so many common interests,

we each, had cultivated our personal, different ways of thinking;
or, at least for sure....I did.
I'd had twenty years of "honing" my thought process;

where she did not.;
which would most probably have put her in the remedial group,
and no couple can shrink an age deficit just through, love.

Unless, of course...you share that same age group;
because, I really loved this younger woman...than I!
But even more than that, I truly did love....being twenty years "younger", for a while.

Love is grand at any age and can bridge the distance. A well thought out poem.
