I think that an internal logic workshop would be great. how to begin a poem that captures the reader, how to end it with a bang, keeping the internal logic throughout the poem. to drive home the message.

How about a workshop on creating an alter ego? And writing through the view point of the created person?

Now that's a great idea, to tap into an alter ego. I have one when I write dark poetry. it emerges as I begin the first line, but i am truly very dark. working hard every day to stay in the light. Not easy, I refuse to use medication.

How about a shop in which the actual form of a poem is used for punctuation ? .............stan

My free verse poem "THE HUNTER" would be a good example. The lines waner about just as a hunter would during a stalk. Hmmmm....... now that I think about it this type puncuation is harder to get printed right here than it was on old site............................stan

A worksop on using such things as line spacind and changing or staggering line starts to punctuate a poem. Example: ( and I'll have to use series of periods to try and post this right)

This is really problematic on Neopoet when we have so few formatting tools. I'm afraid we might have to give this one a miss although it is a very good idea.

I've tried it here and can only get it to work by using advanced formatting which then double spaces the lines. Most of the time the double spacing dilutes the impact. But I'm not Really talking about concrete poetry in which the entire poem is formatted to resemble the subject but rather the sparse use of form changes within a poem to emphasize certain aspects. But as you say, this is moot until site obtains better formatting I guess.

to avoid the double spacing is either to copy and paste in from Word or Notepad or instead of hitting 'Enter' hold 'Shift' then press 'Enter' which creates a forced line break, instead of a paragraph break, which avoids the double spacing.

"Meter for absolute beginners"

I made a mistake in my previous meter workshops by trying to cater to all.

Meter is the music of poetry and I will try to make it as accessible as possible, with Barbara Writes help. It will be a Splash Pool workshop but open to all.

All are welcome and I really believe meter has already helped many poets here. I admit my mistake and will try, with Barbaras help, to make it really accessible.

Many thanks for your past work and the passing on of your knowledge.
I would love to see an ongoing Blog from you on Poetry something like "Basic to Bard" a place where we can go to learn from scratch (or You) about the simple to complex things about poetry..
This would probably take for ever and never end as new stuff comes along.
Many of your previous lessons as it were could be pasted in as the work progressed, with various workshops high lighted as you built up the whole thing.
You could also have others submit for inclusion.
Apart from that we can carry on with the odd workshop at the same time with ref to the main Blog, as I feel we loose so much work and to have to repeat things over and over again takes so much time.
This would be a thing to publish later but ???? Previously I had two Blog's going and updated about the various forms of poetry and never knew if it was used so it died but can be Lazarused if needed, I will await your reply..

There is a new rule that no member can hold 2 major positions. This is practical, if someone leaves for any reason it does not leave a big hole to be filled.

It is a great idea but I already run Workshops and the Mentors program so I can't do it. Ask around, see if you can find a volunteer.

That is downright insulting to the great work the workshops do. You regularly drop out and treat them with triviality but others learn much from them. Don't impose your own lack of commitment on the workshops. You really pissed me off with that statement.

Your blogs on poetry terms were invaluable but badly needed formatting and organisation. They could become part of the Neopoet Reference section.

Don't get insulted as to that Paragraph it was just worded badly as some of my poems.
As you seem to think that I treat them as a triviality, if you check on the present Workshop I am in about stories in verse or poetry by Wesley I rewrote my whole piece and put it in two parts, re submitted it and have been reading about how these things work for over a week with NO comeback on my writing so I am waiting .
Yours seems to be started and finished.
The last one I dropped out of was the one of yours that became too much for me to work with at the time.
I learned a lot from that and have said so a few times.
Not to worry, I will try to write proper reports and suggestions, in a correct manner,hope you still love me????

I am not certain that posting an ongoing blog constitutes holding a position. Heck I posted a blog once that went on for months but it wasn't a position, just a blog which drew unexpected amount of response.........stan

How about a workshop in which participants choose a famous poem then rewrite it in a different form. A free verse version of a rhyming or a rhyming version of a free verse. It should be fairly easy to run and simple to be in while at the same time stretching people into different possibilities............stan PS YOU might even profit from this lol
