We've had quite a lot of new members lately and I address this mostly to you. I've been going through the 'Undiscovered Poems' list, poems that have received no feedback. I've also been checking the statistics on people who post a few poems and don't return. We care a lot about Neopoet and want it to be a friendly and helpful place.
There is an instant and obvious correlation. The 'Undiscovered' posters and the post-a-few-and-leavers don't give any feedback to anyone else. This is a community, not a service. And perhaps as importantly the act of reading and responding to other people's poetry dramatically increases your own poetic insight and skills.
Feedback is self-serving altruism and the secret to why Neopoet is the best place on the web to hone your skills, learn, find community and colleagues and even help others.
No-one expects an academically informed thesis, just your thoughts and feelings,
cheers

Exactly what I visited for
Hi Jess, got a message from Ian about this, just thought it was time I popped in to visit you after all these years too, & to read what you've been doing of course... You & I tend to stand at different poles at times, but I think we both value the rich growth that Neopoet can provide... Anyway, I am happy to check the "Undiscovered" works when I am able (since I've been back I've just made sure I have a look & feedback on poems in the stream, as well as anyone who offers me feedback of course - that's just courtesy to me)... it will be sporadic, hopefully it is useful to be at least welcoming as I totally agree with what you have written about, good move.
Great to hear from you, Anni,
and I think you'll find I've mellowed a bit. No less rigorous honesty but way less abuse.
I'll be sure to check out your recent posts. Wow, five this year after a seven year gap. I look forward to it.
