INTERNECENE WARS
I woke to a heavy mist
a blanket dark a dank
covering the earth where
I lay that night.
the stench of death
stained the air
reaching cities far and near.
I lifted myself from the ground.
looked around to see
who was left besides me.
suddenly
an icy cold passed through
my soul
shadows I once knew
strong and bold.
and for the pity of it
I did but swoon
I walked to the field beyond
as the mist began to lift
a pitiful sight to look upon
beyond all sanity.
Covenants of honor were broken in two.
friendships put in sunder.
blood and burning Flesh choked the earth.
bodies green writhing with bile
the smile of innocence frozen in time
never having seen the enemy behind
Silence.
No further word
Dare be spoken.
The wars had taken their toll.
Lord! Have mercy on us all.

Was it really?
Apart from the last line I found this poem powerful and savage.
Am I stupid?
