I DO NOT BLAME YOU

I heard you insulted our kind
We are born like everyone else
Of a woman, to this world
White amongst the black race

I do not blame your ignorance
You say the blacks that pray to God
To reincarnate as Arian white
Will be born as albinos’

You are wrong, very wrong
Things do not work that way
Where we are born and how
A mystery you’ll never know

I cover my head from burning sun
This makes you think I am inferior
I stay in front of the class
In order to see the board clearly

You think your eyes are better
Does selecting the food I eat
To stop my skin from wrinkles
Make you think a curse is placed on me?

Your lack of knowledge baffles me
Your emptiness exposed by things you say
Your understanding of our kind is shallow
Go back to school and be taught properly

Albinos are people like you
Not unfortunate Europeans
Do not add salt to injury
Just give us a breathing space…

I enjoyed and learned things from this poem about intollerances (sp?) I found this piece very informative. I could feel anger and distaste through the subject matter.

I have no suggestions, only appreciation for the work.

always, Cat

t. reflexion

before Albinos were ostracized from the community or used as sacrifice. Today, we have National Association for the protection of rights of Albinos. It is a reaction to a poem written by someone against Albinos. The piece is a meta criticism of some sort, to counter a wrong sentiment. You are right about the mixed feelings, I hope I did not offend your sensibilities, thanks and best wishes.
