Petrichor 4

the world takes on a brilliance
after a few days of hard rain

you are sleeping
I brew Sumatra coffee,
our window boxes are bright bouquets
of gratitude, hanging gardens
in their confinement

sometimes a poem doesn't need
an exegesis, nothing profound
to dwell on, nothing but a breath
of a full morning's glory.

I can't help but think that I expect more from you I don't mean to be cruel you exhibit sparks of brilliance but at times that can be threatened by a degree of banality that is beneath you. Your still among the best on this site thats why I expect more from you.

brilliance need to breathe. Sometimes the simplest things, things that are overlooked, and taken for granted, become a subject of great interest just because of their simplicity. I know people that think if you stop to smell the roses, you will be kicked in the ass, as everyone passes you in the search for happiness! Nice to see that you are not one of them. ~ Gee

Thanks for reading and the comments; Ian & Gee it's just a simple snapshot of my life with Barry.

Remember when the challenge was to learn a new word every day? Or let a poem be written?

K

I'm only human, Ian, and most of my poems are snapshots, I get depressed and feel like what the fuck many a time, it's just that gratitude and love are always just below the surface....and when the ill wind stops blowing....the calm.

"sometimes a poem doesn't need
an exegesis..."

in a recent interchange with weirdelf, i said
that sometimes, a poem is what it is

i think you've said all you need to say
in this intimate snapshot

it's clean
concise
straightforward

and yet, by the very thought presented,
the reader just KNOWS the protagonist
has a story...

i need no words other than the
ones penned here...for me, this lacks nothing
