Please Stay...

I keep replaying
Your words in my head

"Don't go,
I'm begging you,
Please stay..."

The broken record torments me
Day and night

I didn't know
It would end like this

I didn't know
How bad it would hurt

I would've stayed up
All night with you
If only I'd known...

Now here I am,
Sitting at your grave
With your voice
Whispering to me
"Please stay..."

Hello, Kristen,
I feel the overwhelming regret and heartbreak here. So much emotion in such a brief poem. Condolences if this is a personal experience for you.

to add, except my condolences. There is always that last but... We don't know what the future holds, and it's a damned good thing that we don't, and we can't fix the past. Otherwise, we would be rushing to "better days" and fixing the past; forgetting to live in the now. Very well done, ~ Geez.
