I thought I found who I was
But I ran from her
I made connections in ways I never had
now they’re lost
I came back to what was known
im reminded why I fled
I don’t know how to be comfortable
I avoid it
I wish I could let myself
be
Something scares me
I find it so eery
The idea of forever
I don’t know how to give myself
Completely
There’s always a little voice
because of you
I wish I could find turn it down

I found her
I couldn’t accept her
I lost her
I miss her

Title: Looking again
Review:
The poem captures a sense of self-discovery and the internal struggle that accompanies it. The speaker reflects on their journey of finding themselves, running away from their true identity, and the consequences of their actions. There is a clear theme of discomfort and avoidance throughout the poem, as well as a desire for self-acceptance and overcoming personal obstacles.

Indeed the idea of forever is frightening. It’s a difficult commitment for anyone to make. I think however, that forever is a complicated concept. First, I’d argue that nothing is forever. But also, in a figurative sense, everything is forever.
This feeling of loss. The absence of a thing that seemed so elusive only to be found and lost again also falls into that philosophy. The experience will be with you forever but I promise your feelings will evolve. All things are always in motion and our fragile hearts are not exempt.
Your feelings of self sabotage, regret, and longing are normal and valid but they don’t own space in your head, they’re just visiting for awhile and they need to speak their truths. They need to be felt as much as it hurts.
Take care of yourself and don’t shield your heart. Remain open to the possibility that things can and will get better. Baby steps. There’s no finish line on this journey.
Always your friend
