It’s December and you ask me about love;
And it’s funny because this time last year we were both necks deep in it.
I tell you I dabble, here and there,
a touch, a glance, a fling.
a rendezvous with a dark man in a dark blue truck.
I tell you that I’m scared I won’t be treated right again.
“Again?” you ask
“Yes.” I say.
you beg me to elaborate and I do,
I could never say no to you.
I weave you a tale of your own idiocy and wrap it up in shiny gold streamer.
I run the ribbon along my fingernails like they are scissors, because they are just as sharp
and I watch it curl up exactly the way my hair does on a Tuesday afternoon when it is raining outside and I have no one to show.
I tie it off and finish it with a label, addressed to you,
stamped with a shiny seal and a sorry excuse.

Sometimes...
we need to have those little conversations with ourselves.
Of course, I may have it all wrong, but even so, I see nothing here that I would change.

hello,
Are you new to Neopoet? If you are, I hope that you are feeling welcome and enjoying the site. This is the first that I have come across a poem of yours. I much enjoyed reading. It is very descriptive with great language usage! My favorite lines are:

But I have to tell you; I found it difficult to choose, as the poem, on a whole is rich with likeable material...I look forward to you reading my poems and commenting!
