MY WOKE

“I love being ‘woke’. It’s much nicer than being an ignorant f*cking tw*t. Kathy Burke - British Comedian March 13th 2022 Twitter.”

I used to be quite content, until I fell out with my woke,
Now a downright laughing stock, a hapless, helpless joke.
Away has flown my empathy, my compassion to be kind,
And with the words I speak, I am forever now defined.

When I measure out the misery to quantify my troubles,
Down I slide, a slippery slope my festering hate, it doubles.
Instead of spreading clarity, tabloids urge more corruption,
I can’t remember how I became, a victim of this disruption.

The wounded skin I live in, still my ego must be stroked,
Yet I cannot be inhuman, but I’m easily provoked.
As the devils in this country, command me to invoke,
In homage to my hatred, I have to spread my woke,

Family grows impatient, but their visits don’t last long,
And the grandkids think I’m horrible, and my comments very wrong.
When I allow them inside, we keep our words rather brief,
Those friendly conversations, are now fuelled in misbelief.

Woke becomes a poison, a malicious spark of spite,
I hate everyone and everything, it keeps me awake at night.
But if I take a second look, I’m sure all will grow clear,
the disgust I taste is building and I’m overwhelmed in fear.

Repeat a lie long enough, pick a side, who to believe,
Words are used as weapons; and minds damaged to receive.
I’ll continue in my focus until I spit out my last breath,
Drowning in my fury, I will hate myself to death.

About This Poem

Last Few Words: Culture wars have spread across the UK in the same way they did in the USA and they are a weapon being used against the people for the sake of spinelss, foolish, ignorant politicians.

The below is a computer-generated response from Neo, Neopoet's computer artificial intelligence:

The poem titled "MY WOKE" presents a strong exploration of the theme of 'wokeness' and its potential negative impacts on the individual and society. The poem effectively uses imagery and metaphor to convey the speaker's emotional journey and internal conflict.

However, the poem could benefit from a more nuanced exploration of its central theme. The speaker's perspective is largely negative, which may limit the poem's ability to fully engage with the complexities of 'wokeness'.

The poem's structure is consistent, with a clear rhyme scheme and rhythm that contributes to its readability. However, the poem might benefit from varying its structure to reflect the speaker's emotional journey. For example, shorter lines or stanzas could be used to convey moments of heightened emotion or tension.

The poem's language is clear and accessible, which makes its themes and ideas easy to understand. However, the poem could benefit from more varied and imaginative language to more effectively convey the speaker's emotions and experiences.

The poem's ending is powerful and impactful, effectively conveying the speaker's despair and frustration. However, the poem might benefit from a more hopeful or ambiguous ending to encourage readers to reflect on their own attitudes and behaviours.

Overall, the poem is a strong exploration of a relevant and complex theme. With some refinement and development, it has the potential to be a powerful and thought-provoking piece.
