We place pictures of our loved ones
throughout the house
Often not taking the time to reflect
On what we see
It is the parents placed on our dresser
That that should give us the
Encouragement we need
To succeed
It is in their faces that
Remind us of their accomplishments
And talents
Many that are now part of ourselves
All the rules that were imposed while young
Were done to teach us lessons
And to remind us how to apply our
Talents successfully each day
Instead of worrying and fretting
Of what can be
We need to apply those gifts and talents
To make a better today a happier tomorrow
So when we pass that dresser
And view those that we love
We can apply what we inherited
With the confidence that they inspire

I see what you mean...
I have some pictures of my parents. Only sometimes, do I really look at them; to see the people and their accomplishments.
I have some strong feelings about when and where they were taken, so when I really look at them, the memories flow.
Yeah, my mother was the one who had the biggest role in our family and wrote the rules. Boy! I wish I had paid better attention to some of them; but... anyway, I get it! I feel like this one, while a good poem, is a little bit flat. Maybe...
"Do your homework and eat your vegetables"
Remind us of how apply ourselves
to each and every day
Taking care of our mind and bodies.
I'm sure that your memories are richer than what I see on the paper.
Work on putting it there, and I guarantee your writing will take off! ~ Geezer.
