Freeze Frame Fred of the Gnomes

Here's something that's rarely fathomed
a thing that's been left unsaid,
but, there is actually a King of the Gnomes
and they call him, Freeze Frame Fred!

He keeps a rather low profile
as he's merely the King of the "pawns",
he's foreverly been fashioned in five different colors
out standing on everyone's lawns.

He has no special powers
popularity has given him fame,
he may be in charge of all the other Gnomes
but, moderocity is his only game.

He lives by his stoic example
standing still for all to see,
so, when someone takes a quick glance at your lawn
they'll see Fred, standing still by a tree.

And, really it's rather important
him standing still, while he hums a Gnome song,
for if he moved, while someone snapped a picture
then the snapshot would of course, come out wrong!

He merely stands still for days on end
braving the evening chill,every night,
he's gained some recognition for Tavelocity
for staying motionless, which he does so very right !

Other than those brief appearances
in commercials, here and there...
they sell his likenesses in nursery's and sometimes,
even the County fair.

With absolutely no indignation
and with no traits that would greatly astound,
Freeze-frame Fred will go down in history
for his great patience, and for standing his ground !

I'm still laughing.
Simple enough for a child, clever and mature enough for adults to enjoy.
I would double-check for spelling, and edit the second stanza for structure.
Apart from that, this is a lot of fun, well done!

....it's an old write...in fact, I really should've re-edited it before I went ahead, and re-submitted it! But, alas....I seem, more and more to be "lazeous", of late. Well, you know what I mean.

Doc,

fantastic...that's my critique so far, but Oliver will read this and the other one over the weekend and then the real harsh critique will begin!! Lol!

I really appreciate you doing this for Oliver, he will be overjoyed to Fred back in his life.

You ok if he prints it out and saves in his poetry book...he needs more work in it than my poor attempts at poetic humour!

regards and thanks,

HS & Oliver

...would only succeed in making me most "proud", if the lad would'st critique my gnomish attempts at humoure, and kindly rest said copies next to those of the Hooded Stranger.
thanx,
doc.

Mr Doc

My Dad said it was ok to write a message on Neopoet using his account.

I had missed Fred and was really annoyed with my Dad for losing the whole collection of poems you wrote about him.

I found the poem really funny and I can picture Fred sitting by his pond fishing and laughing out loud at all the people walking past. I have a gnome in my garden now that my dad bought me before christmas...I painted him in bright colours and my Dad painted fred on his back like a football shirt...his number is 7 which is my favourite number.

I would like Fred in your poem to go on a journey around the world and to meet a mrs Gnome. I am trying to write a Fred poem for you. I have more to write but dad says this was agood start

Fred is my favourite gnome
When I go to school he fishes and protects my home
When i get back he hasn't caught any fish
But i sit with him and throw a penny in the pond and wish

thank you Mr Doc for giving us Fred,

bye,

Oliver
