Tales Of Ancient Greece: Two Faced

Ephany was surprised but elated,
To see her husband home early from war,
He staggered in,
Exhausted and wounded,
But with a sweet subtle smile on his lips,
He took her in his arms,
And kissed her tenderly,

She had missed him so much,
That it pained her to break away from his warm embrace,
As she sat him down to dress his wounds,
He couldn't resist her soft touch,
That he had craved for so long,
So in quiet night,
The fire of passion consumed them,
Leaving them trembling in the wake of desire,

Then as the first rays of morning light,
Broke through the misty clouds,
Ephany woke to find her husband gone,
A letter on his pillow,
Her eyes filled with tears,
As it spoke of his love,
No longer meant for her,
That he would never return,
Nor see her ever again,

She wept for days,
Strained with emotion,
Almost beyond her measure,
Until she heard the door open,
And before her stood her husband,
Bloodied and bruised,
A sweet smile on his face,

As he approached to hug her,
She slapped him hard,
Shoving the letter at him,
Stunned,
He silently read,
His eyes turning murderous,
As he clenched his fists,
"I'm going to kill him!" He shouted,

Ephany just stared as if he had lost his mind,
Then finally asked "Who?",
He looked at her,
And with boiling rage said,
"My twin brother!"

Geezer

As I was reading this, I thought that maybe it was a dream that she had. Maybe the stress had broken her mind and she had succumbed to her dementia. Nicely done. ~ Geezer.

Candlewitch

a very creative tale. I thought, at one point, that her husband was a ghost.
