I am not the only
person in this world.
Somewhere, at this precise moment,
someone else also holds
a tiny red flower.
Perhaps a florist,
or a child,
an artist,
or someone without sight
but nevertheless knows they hold a rose,
somehow just as red.
I am not alone
tying my shoe at this moment,
even more precise,
my left shoe.
The chance is strong
given that there are so many
left feet on this vast earth.
Afterall, there comes the time,
the moment,
to tie each left shoe.
I open my eyes each morning
the same time as countless others.
Slice a tomato,
smile into someone's eyes,
or turn page 44 in a magazine
within the same precise moment as others.
Chances are good. Strong.
There are billions and billions of us here.
And I am not alone.

You paint...
a great picture of being a part of all that happens here on Earth. I liked the premise that there are many people all over the world doing the same things at precisely the same time. It kind of brings us all together doesn't it? I see nothing I would change. Nice to see you writing again, ~ Geez.

Hello, Geezer!
Thank you so much for reading! I did feel a sense of togetherness when writing this one - a nice respite from all that we let divide us.

Very nice job
It’s got that butterfly effect kinda feel to it. Like a monologue over a montage of clips.

Hi, Tim,
I very much like your "butterfly effect" description. Thank you for reading!

Insightful
A deep look at all the various people and things that are going on in the world at the same time we are living our lives. Sometimes we take that for granted. Great write.
Hello, RoseBlack,
It did feel pretty deep writing this, but there was something very obvious and simple in my thoughts, too. I agree - it's good to remind ourselves that we are on the same planet, spinning in the same direction.
Thank you!
