My Mother
Is mine!
I had her before you did!
I am the oldest of us all
watching you, the others
come into the world after me.
I think that all of us have
our own memories of "just me and mom"
The times when she comforted us
the times that we needed her most
The rest of us faded into the background
because we knew, she was there for us all
Sick, hurt and just not in tune
with the rest of the world
we each had our moments
and we are lucky to still have them
She is not the body that danced
or played ball with us anymore
she is not the one who cooked
and made meals of nothing... something
But she is all those things in our memories
The strong one that got us through
taught us how to be kind and good
the one who taught us that you could cry
The one who brought us to this day.
She is OUR mother and we love her so much!
Happy Mother's Day!

dear Geez,
your mother is a hero in her own right!!! I am envious!!! your poem delivers the wonderful woman she is. I've got an idea: why don't you put this poem on paper and send it to her with one of your siblings. I'm sure she would love it! favorite lines:

Funny...
that you should say that! It has been my intention all along! I thought that my sister will be going up and I would give her the poem so that she could read it to her. Thanks for the reaffirming thought! I was hoping that you would confirm my oidea that it is good enough. Hugs ~ Geez.

What a wonderful tribute
Your mom would love this! Such a wonderful tribute and reminder that you are the oldest, her first born! Mom's really are special. Great write.
Thank you...
Yes, I am the first! I enjoyed be the only for about 18 mos. until my sister Sheila was born and then sister Kathy, seven years later. Then from the "other father" of the family, my younger brothers and sisters, came Scott [deceased], David, Stephanie, Stacey, and Sonia, the "baby". I love them all, and it doesn't matter that we have a different father. [Both deceased]. We are just brother and sisters.
