The winds howled and the sea screamed in pain
And all over the world it began to rain
The rain wasn't merciful, it just wouldn't stop
And if you weren't careful then you'd get caught
It shook all the houses on our tiny block
It rattled the doors and smashed the clock
Look out the window at all of the world
While houses go under in the waters that swirled
There were lost children riding in boats
And guardian angels in yellow rain coats
We all had to go, to run for our life
While the newscasters screamed grab your children and wife
The waves were hungry and we were easy prey
Everyone crying and homes were floating away
But lucky for us Houston is strong
From out on the waters the saviors came along
Not just the police or the firemen's squad
But all living people who were praying to God
They all put on a smile and held out their hands
Taking your family to safe promise lands
And even after the storm was done
and everything ruined we all came as one
We built up the houses and took out the trash
All that had come from the waters angry thrash
And if it weren't for those good women and men
I might not be able to tell this story again
Those kind and gracious beings who weren't anything special
Lent out their lives and became a safety vessel

This is a poem about what i saw and heard during hurricane Harvey. I had to evacuate with my family but us and our house were safe in the end. Harvey showed strength of what we could do in a tough time. This pandemic is not. Everyone is fighting and the acts of racism are angering. The world needs to grow up and do something.
I see...
that you are very proud of your city, as you should be. I liked the way that your poem was slightly choppy and it made it seem more fitting. I agree, that something in the world has changed and it seems like the President has chosen to divide us and use that division to try and win another term in power. I do believe that this country has had enough of him and the world has seen that he is not fit to lead us. Let us hope that it is not too late to repair the relationships with our allies and make this world a better place. Keep writing from your heart, you are doing so well. ~ Geez.

It was a category 4 hurricane. It didn't hurt our neighborhood but my friends house got flooded and she lived like 15 minutes away. The death count was 62, and it submerged 32,000 people's houses.
