Earth Mother.
There is a mother out there dying,
who doesn’t understand why.
There are a billion children crying,
can’t you hear the collective sigh.
Build your walls to hold back the tide,
as heavy clouds go sweeping past.
Condemn the science go on pick a side,
but mother earth is changing fast.
Like a petulant child we stamp our feet,
while mother earth knows best.
Demanding always something sweet,
sucking greedily at her breast.
The nipple has begun to ache,
most mothers have known this pain.
Empty, the greedy child will forsake,
finding somewhere else to gain.
Like all mothers she’s stoic but sad,
as her petulant child demands more.
Mother will not long put up with bad,
she has seen it all before.

Loved this piece,
Is it possible to ask you to tidy the last two lines,
There needs to be a severe punch line, and below the belt if needed,
Yours as always, Ian ..
Thank Ian,
Thank you Ian, gave a lot of thought to the last two lines. Decided to keep them as they are. Regards Roscoe..
