Flames Of Every Different Color

they say that white
is the hottest flame
and that some of the worst atrocities
were done in Jesus' name

that civilization
is a thin veneer
and love is just
a synonym for fear

but there are flames
every color of the rainbow
and white is also
the color of snow

the coldest cold can burn us too
so maybe instead of
just being "true"

we can fill the world with grace
look each other in the face
and light a multicolor flame
enjoy the ways
we aren't the same

embrace each other's humanity
develop a new breed
of Christianity

where the goal isn't escaping
the fires of hell
but just loving and treating
each other well

Loved this piece it was full of life.
White heat speeds things up to destruction, white cold freezes and stops all things, something toward absolute zero where most things stop as if in hibernation awaiting the warmth again.
