You, bird,
I want wings too.
I want to sing in the treetops.
How is it you got wings
And I got philosophy?
(Are you even listening??)
Bird, you there,
(Soaring way up by the clouds so you look like you’re floating downstream on a rubber tire without a care)
How’d you get those wings?
...Some believe we get ours when we’re dead.
Yes, that’s what I said.
I suppose you think
You’re simply smarter,
And figured out
The earth is round
Long before we did.
Yes bird, yes bird, ok,
I hear you loud and clear.
(How did such sharp beaked brat
Learn to swear like a sewer rat!)
Comments
coz
Eumol
humans are dull and fat
unlike a rat
and you had run away
since over a week
if I may say
?
huh?
birds
now finally more birds are singing in New England. I rather prefer tropical birds but I am now hearing all day lovely singing out there which does tempt one to take wing somehow. Since you are a musician, I am sure you love how birds sing and then take off with each species exhibiting unique flight patterns. I especially admire how pelicans fly in perfect formations in groups of 5 or 6 even when gulls attack them trying to grab fish out of their beaks.
Well, I leap to Charlie Parker
When I see the title! Of course he had his own philosophy. But if we are to agree that philosophy proper, started with those that came before Socrates (my understanding goes back to Thales) - I wonder what philosophy we hold in our metaphoric wings, compared to the birds? Is the Hawk in the rain, privy to a philosophy more like that of the Spartans? I don't know. Anyway, lots to think about here.
I like it's whimsical tone.
Cheers.
PS Were the Romans the " Good haters" in philosophical terms, when it came to the Carthaginians?
