A Poem's A Kiss From The Universe

a poem's a kiss from the universe
though sometimes as bitter as bile
the chance to charge headlong into life's mess
or to get away for awhile
an ode to something enduring as the sun
or as fleeting as a flower
a way to capture a season of one's life
or maybe just an hour
a poem's a doorway or sometimes a wall
that feels way too tall to climb
words that contain a million mysteries
or elucidating rhyme
something that helps to translate love
for ourselves and for each other
a sea as deep as eternity
or a group of wading plovers
a poem's a diamond with many sides
or the mine where you can find them
something even a child can write
a drag queen or a fireman
it's a detailed map of the heart of man
his passions and his worries
the desert of abandonment
or the favor that he curries
a phrase that sticks inside your head
or mutters to the heart
a chance to finally wrap things up
or maybe just to start

Can't say it better.

Eumolpus

especially the last line. And the easy way the words read with in meter.

I enjoyed most of the images and words, and the title kiss from the universe.

(I do think the combination of child with drag queens or firemen is a bit of a distraction)

thanks mark. i'm glad you liked it. the drag queen, fireman line is one of my favorites, actually. to see what each of them have going on in their heart, laid bare in poetry, is exciting to me. the human experience.
