Defeat

Child on horseback
Won’t you come for me?
Mother by morning
Won’t you cry for me?
Cause I am so tired of being strong
And I am so sick of being wrong
That I will refuse to breath

Sun on my shoulders
Won’t you burn me?
Moon calm the violent seas
Won’t you drown me?
Cause I am so tired of being afraid
And I am so sick of riding the waves
So I will refuse to speak

We all fall for love
We all fall for love
We all fall for love
So stand me back up on my feet
So I can sing a song of defeat

Sweet, simple lover
Why can’t you feel for me?
Stop feeling sober
You’ll never feel love for me

We all fall for love
We all fall for love
We all fall for love
So stand me back up on my feet
So I can sing a song of defeat

All alone, at the edge of the world
I wonder if I could ever rule
The kingdom of your love
So stand me back up on my feet
So I can sing a song of defeat

I don't think I've read you before. I liked this but wonder if the repeated " we all fall for love " shows this is meant to be sung ? either way an enjoyable write.........scribbler
