Remembrance is a hall of mirrors,
a point of blue, a golden hue
possibly an exit
a memory of sky
and cold mornings
a struggling vista straining
its way out of my viscera
a glimmering shapeless memory
fragmenting then rejoining
in elegant collisions
[and ugly revisions]
waiting to be grasped
and welded in a clammy frame
held in there and proclaimed
a temporal act of ownership
noted and catalogued, classified
magnified to the point of distorted
caricature
endured long enough to be scribbled
in near silence somewhere
before the next frame shoulders its
way in
the former disintegrating into
unconscious eternity.

I tell people...
"It's my memory, I'll remember it the way I want to! " That is my perception of your poem; what it says. Of course, you said it so much better. ~ Geezer.

Thanks Geez..it's an early one..
Things just seemed so much clearer back then! Few more brain cells, I think.
Cheers.

memory
I am still obsessed with the animated film Inside Out, which takes place in a small girls brain. Memories are stored in colorful bowling balls in huge maze like cities with shelves of them. There is a full time crew with this gigantic vacuum sucking up several at a time and hurling them into the void. Some remain, as "core memories"...the film is a rare treat of science and fun,
I don't think we need "memory" of sky, or "shapeless memory", as the poem is about all memory. As it is an early work I would not want to suggest more, as those things need to be left as they were mostly.
The poem has good cadence, and control of images and thought. I think one day this young poet will grow up and become a very skilled craftsman indeed!
I will definitely find that film!
My son is in to animation, and a very good artist (just finished art college last year) he's a bit of an anime (correct spelling hmmm...) purist - and says it's not his thing, but suggests Perfect Blue:

It was quite liberating to write this as I recall.
Thanks.

The wee pile of books in the corner grows..
I like the perspective
of memory here.
Quite often you just think of a memory, the visualisation of person, place or event.
This takes you down a layer to look at the process of memory as opposed to the memory in question.
I like that.

Thanks Jane..
Yes, try as me might, we augment, and adorn our memories, we make them into an image of preference, or defence - I think. It's interesting, and sometimes, it spontaneous - often a conscious act.
Cheers.

Hi Chris
I clearly recall being an athlete of exceptional talent. I also never made less than an "A" in school. And I was so handsome women swooned as I passed by. Even my poetry was worthy of laureate status in the distant past. And MY memory is perfect and....and....uhhh......what was I talking about?.......stan
Haa..quite right Stan..
The act in itself - can be very satisfying.
Thanks for stopping by.
Cheers.
Chris.
