without music, life would be a mistake
"Nietzsche"
I agree
but, to this, I would add "wit"
charming wit
giggly wit
with a twist
to the gist,
and a jiggle to
the bits,
a tickly
kind of wit,
shall I go on with this?
a potent antidote
to bellicosity
and verbosity,
(no doubt, something
we can all live without)
but dullness is
the insufferable itch
to a rambunctious man
chomping the bit.
when dying of boredom
from pedantic din,
out of the blue
our hero jumps in.
-with rapier a'thrust,
a piercing reposte-
bursting the bladder
of a mind numbing host;
resuscitating joy,
laughter takes place
ensuring that life
was no mistake.
(I should end
with a witticism here,
but can offer this only,
hopefully clear)
tho' a lover of music,
I cannot sing;
the same for wit,
...such an elusive thing.

Where would we be without wit.
I particularly love that first stanza, but agree with the sentiment 150%

oh! the bleakness of a world
oh! the bleakness of a world without wit.
a feast without wine
love without laughter
grunts and groans
dry as the Sahara
I just made that up, just for you (especially the wine part)
thanks Jane,
Am guffawing
out loud.
A new acronym - GOL
There, am laughing again, although the thought of a feast without wine is fairly sobering.......
