At a time when darkness sprouts like a dwarf plumules that seek for moisture and sunlight.
When we could only hear the whispering sound of a cricket.
With a conglomeration of masked awe.
When weakness come knocking at the door of a helpless soul.
A playback of man's actual activity that comes like a trance.
When poets strive to convey emotional ideas in black and white.
I sat beside my bed with an epileptic glittering of an ancient wax.
Opted not to succumb to the irresistible course of nature.in an attempt to reach for my pen and dairy.
To consult the conference of literature.

wow. how does a person start writing poems
The way you did, you just write. Poetry is the indeed the magic of words and ideas and images. I like the idea that the poets convey their emotion in black and white. printed words. But there is much color in the words, that seek their moisture. I would encourage you to read the most respected poets from Nigeria, among others, read as much poetry as you can, and carry a little notebook with you for lines that pop into your head. a poet is different that any other artists- they can take a break fro their craft of painting or drawing, dancing or composing music,,,we are 24/7, poets are poets all the time they are awake because language and thoughts never leave us until we sleep.
The only line I must mention is "epileptic glittering of an ancient wax" yes we understand the flickering, pulsation of the flame but epileptic is a disease which i don't think fits mood and some might feel is uninterruptedly hurtful.
Looking forward to your poems- and learning what it's like to be a poet in Nigeria in 2017
