Malignant Drone….
I should have blown the phone
and kissed her,
because as I sat all alone,
like stone,
I missed her.
Minutes became stretched as I watched,
while she left with a better prepared guy.
As another app on his bedpost was notched,
my heart said, keep playing, you won’t die.
Then I raced through another game,
my mind, my eyes eternally lost.
Even new excuses became quite lame,
relationships died in my electronic frost.
There was never a thought given to cost,
in fact I would always be quite thrifty.
I embraced this malignant clinging ghost,
even though I was well over fifty.
I was adding new apps as they appeared,
while my thumbs were dancing on screen.
Giants and monsters were soon speared,
while I created another selfy to preen.
Buying and selling is done with a flick,
no need to run to the shops anymore.
Clothes that I bought weren’t chic,
but they’d always arrive at my door.
So the moral, if any can be found,
or perhaps what my verses have shown,
If we don’t lift our heads, look around,
then we’re all just a part of their drone.

Thank you for sharing !
Thanks Rula,
Thanks Rula, I see it every day on trains, buses, walking in the street. People are living their lives through their phones. Love Roscoe...
I like this...
a segment of life's truth! Just want to point out; that you can't sit prone. Maybe you should lie prone?
Good work, ~ Gee
Sometimes finding,
Sometimes finding what we think is the correct word is not every thing. As i tend to write straight from the hip, i generally miss that the words though sounding good are not correct. And so i've edited the part you pointed out.Thank you. Regards Roscoe..
Bravo
Well laid out and brilliant rhythm couldn't find a fault with it at all I tried lol .. but I dont always have my phone on these days its incessant beeping is sometimes too much when I am sick ..
So glad I found this one .. don't know what it is but there is something very different about this poem compared with your other work, cant put my finger on it
