The Rain Sprite

One Rainy Day

The wind hums a lullaby
In the heart of a forest
Deep asleep.
A brook flows
Like cymbals played in tranquility
Accompanied by the lovely silence
Of reverie.

The trees and the flowers
Sway in the gentle summer gust
The reeds by the river bank
Play their lovely flutes
- Echoing on and on.

The birds on the old branches
Chirp sweetly
Along with the toads
On top of lily pads
Floating on a pond
Deep in slumber.

The sky rolls down her curtain
Hiding away the light
With a mighty strike of her hand
The drums are played
Roaring and resonating
The grand entrance
Of her glorious orchestra
And from the firmament
Her band
Come marching down
Pitter-patter. Pitter-patter.
And they make a sound.

Very peaceful and filled with imagery. The end seems kind of abrupt though. ....................stan

very descriptive tale of nature. the only thing which trips me up is describing a gust as being gentle......I have seen gusts and they by definition are not gentle. I am sure you can find a better way to convey what you mean than I could provide. I really like the silence of reverie line...........stan

Loved this one it was a gentle look around with feelings, yes the summer Gust is a little harsh
Sway in the gentle summer haze/ shimmer
There must be a few words to fit in there but even Haze sounds strongish. "Move to gentle summers sway"
Anyway will leave it up to you lol,
Take care and keep writing,
Yours Ian.T
