PREJUDICES

There are no Vulcans anywhere
no Darth Vaders or androids
cruising around way out there
having fun with humanoids

Think of all the forms on Earth
all the myriad variations
why should another planet birth
semi-sapien imitations ?

Why not four legs, six, or eight ?
why have any legs at all
they might all well have the fate
to swim or fly or even crawl

Perhaps tentacles, not hands
octopi get by just swell
and even on the solid lands
elephant trunks work as well

Our senses of sight and sound
why not bio-radar waves
that see even underground
it works for bats inside black caves

So don't get too hung up on form
if the others do arrive
WE may be outside the norm
within this vast galactic hive

We don't like our bodies so we run to plastic surgeries or......
I believe for those who lost the light from their eyes or other who can' walk any more will appreciate what we are talking about.
as human nature we won't be thankful to the blessed things we have until we lose it.

Dear Stan
This really wonderful poem. And a very well written

I think you meant [trunks], not trucks. But I did get an interesting visual! An elephant driving a truck! It is all part of the grand scheme that we may never see, but hope to. ~ Gee ~ P.S. Loved the title, the theme was great, and the pattern and rhythm carried through to the end. Nice work!

S

yeah those elephant trucks are really huge lol. I'm pleased you enjoyed this........................scribbler

Xena, I don't think I'd want the Cyber Men around - I'm kind of fond of my brain. ...or the Daleks for that matter. :-D

S

right ! I left them and the cyborgs out, hope it didn't hurt their feelings...........................stan

S

I thought a cyberman must be a being with a computer brain...................stan

I'm very much a Doctor Who fan - I've even seen most of the very first episodes with William Hartnell in them. (And I made my husband a Tom Baker scarf for his birthday one year.) It's sad they lost so many of the early episodes. :-(

I do beleave there is other life out there. Every star may be some creature's sun. Well written as always. But some alean Capt. Kirk might say. Beam me up Scotty. There is no intellegent life on Earth. Take Care. huey

S

There's definitely no intelligent life in Washington lol. Always good to see you huey............stan

I cannot deny that you may be correct of the other forms, but I don't know that there are no more androids . . . I think that George Bush may fall into that category, and he was programmed badly.

S

we have no world Leaders, just power hungry politicians..............stan

K

"we have no word Leaders, just power hungry politicians".... A Freudian slip that works, Stan.

The theme has been presented often enough, the earth unites against some alien *invader*. Yet
why do we always think again, it will be us vs. them? Why not give peace a chance? lol.

Cool poem Stan my man, reminds me of the bar scene on Star Wars..."we don't serve your kind" no androids allowed.

And that of course reminds me of the "To Serve Man" episode of Twilight Zone. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WudBfRa0ETw

however, I'm no longer afraid of killer tomatoes, just spinach and celery.

hug,
Anna

S

sorry to disappoint you but I'm not deep enough to make Freudian slips just typos lol. I thought the poem's message was not us vs. them but to not expect them to look even remotely like us. I have been amazed by the response to this. I also remember the to serve man episode.................stan

K

How could I be disappointed Stan? I take everyone for who we are and by the same token, who we're not.

My feelings, however, come and go. My love doesn't.

Happy holidays to you and yours, Stan.
